Well we’ve certainly had a hit of summer sun in recent days so this month’s theme of “Summer Special” seems to be perfectly timed indeed. Let’s get rid of the elephant in the room right away – the weather! Of course, the only guarantee about our weather is that we will have some weather so let’s not allow that to dampen our enthusiasm for getting out and about when Scotland is looking at its very best, and we need that rainfall to give us our lovely Scottish water and that heart-warming amber nectar of our national drink. Scotland is so much more that its weather at any time of year and in particular in the summer. And, not for the first time, to quote Billy Connolly, “there’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes” so that’s that put to bed. It’s true that most of us think Scotland is special all year round and these summer nights, offering a chance to sit out late under beautifully coloured skies, enjoying your favourite food and drink really do feed the soul. For myself, I love sitting outside in the evening and just taking in the sights and sounds of summer, it seems to have a character of all its own and never disappoints. – Mark
